iYak is a TTS ("Text To Speech") application with an emphasis on portability. Text to Speech is the technology that "reads" text and "speaks" it with a computer-generated voice.
I'm sure you've heard computer generated voices before, but if you have not heard one lately, you are in for a pleasant surprise.
TTS technology has been around for a long time, but it reaches a new level of usefulness with the Advent of MP3 and CD players. Now you don't have to sit in front of your computer to take advantage of TTS technology. iYak uses TTS to free your body from your cubicle, and your eyes from your computer screen.
iYak is designed around the idea the you want to take information with you;. iYak allows you to collect web pages, and then when you are ready to go, it bundles up the the whole collection for the road. You can send the collection to WMA files (for your MP3 Player), or to an audio CD.
iYak converts web pages, blogs or RSS Feeds to audio tracks for your CD or MP3 player. iYak uses Windows' built-in TTS engine to make the web portable. Simply:
1) Drag'n'drop links onto iYak to build a track list.
2) Click a button to burn your tracks to an audio CD, or to convert them to WMA files for your Portable Mp3 player.
3) Turn off your computer and go play; listen to the web as you go.
